A friend had this posted on face book. I am going to take part. September 26, 2011

Re-post everywhere you can if you agree and plan to get involved!
OCTOBER 1st to November

consider this and act on it!

Did you see Diane Sawyer’s special report? They removed ALL items from a typical, middle class family’s home that were not made in the USA or CANADA.

There was hardly anything left besides the kitchen sink. Literally. During the special they showed truckloads of items – USA and CANADA made – being brought in to replace everything and talked about how to find these items and the difference in price etc..

It was interesting when they discovered said if every Canadian and American spent just

$64 more than normal on USA OR CANADA  made items this year, it would create something like 200,000 new jobs!

I WAS BUYING FOOD THE OTHER DAY AT many of our local grocery stores  and ON THE LABEL OF SOME PRODUCTS IT SAID ‘FROM CHINA and INDIA ‘

FOR EXAMPLE THE “OUR FAMILY” BRAND OF THE MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN ‘FROM CHINA ‘ And the Dill Pickles were from INDIA.

I WAS SHOCKED SO FOR A FEW MORE CENTS I BOUGHT THE BICK BRAND AND THE DOLE SINCE IT’S FROM CALIF.

Are we Canadians and Americans  as dumb as we appear — or — is it that we just do not think. The Chinese, knowingly and intentionally, export inferior and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in American and Canadians markets. And we keep buying them!

70% of Canadians and Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended.

Why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges? LET’S DO IT OURSELVES, AMERICA  and CANADA.!!

Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says ‘Made in China ‘ or ‘PRC’ (and that now includes Hong Kong ), simply choose FOR A FEW CENTS OR DOLLARS MORE another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.

Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs, use real ones and benefit some Canadian or American farmer. Easter is just an example. The point is do not wait for the government to act. Just go ahead and assume control on your own.

THINK ABOUT THIS: If 200 million Canadians and Americans each refuse to buy just $20 of Chinese goods, that’s a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor…fast!!

Most of the people who have been reading about this matter are planning on implementing this on OCT 1st and continue it until NOV. 1st. That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of the total, or 8%, of their American and Canadian exports. Then they might have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it.

Remember, START NOW.

Send this to everybody you know. Let’s show them that we are Canadians and Americans WHO CARE ABOUT OUR FUTURE and NOBODY can take us for granted.

If we can’t live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives,

WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET!

Pass it on, Canadians and Americans…

Well instead of doing it for just 1 month why not try to do it all the time.

Nothing Fitness September 21, 2011

September so far has been an amazing extension of summer. I can’t believe we are going to be +30 this weekend. Mid September is a great time of year to let your “nesting” kick in. It’s a great time to get back into a routine, become organized and my favorite, fall harvest ! I get so excited with people who have very productive apple trees ! They are more than willing to give them away.

What are some of your September favorites?

Apple Chicken Roll-Up

These sweet and savoury apple chicken snacks are a perfect lunch for those on a diet. They taste great and are virtually carb-free.

Ingredients1 large red apple
3/4 cup (175 mL) plain yogurt
1/2 teaspoon (2.5 mL) dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon (2.5 mL) dried rosemary
1/4 teaspoon (1 mL) salt
1 teaspoon (5 mL) white pepper
1/4 teaspoon (1 mL) garlic salt
4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves

DirectionsGrate 1/2 the apple into a large bowl. Slice the remaining half into 8 thin wedges and set aside.

Add yogurt, thyme, rosemary, salt, pepper and garlic salt to grated apple. Lay the chicken breasts onto the counter on a piece of plastic wrap, and cover with a second sheet of plastic wrap.

Pound the thick end of the chicken with your fists to even out thickness. Remove the plastic wrap, spread a heaping tablespoon of yogurt mixture into the centre of each chicken breast, and lay apple slices in the centre. Roll chicken and lay into a casserole dish that has been oiled slightly. Secure each with a toothpick if necessary.

Smear any remaining yogurt onto breasts. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (180°C) for 20 minutes, remove foil and bake for 20 more minutes or until chicken is cooked through.

Slice apple chicken roll-ups crosswise and serve hot, or chill in fridge and serve cold with salad greens.

Servings: 4
Preparation time: 15 minutes

This is why I don’t eat out….. September 12, 2011

Yes most food when you eat out is not healthy but that’s not my reason for not eating out.

I am a fussy eater. I don’t like cream foods including white sauces and mustard and all salad dressing. They make me sick but this is still not

my main reason……

On a post June  13 I talked about the burger problem. Well I havent had a burger since then so on Sunday Joe and I went to have a burger. I went and ordered the burger and I think the guy taking the order thought I was speaking a different language. ” can I please have a burger with only pickles and ketchup?” “ok”, he says and repeats the order back. “one burger with pickles and cheese?”  Really I don’t get it. He proceeded again and on the second try repeated it correctly back to me. The burger was made fast I went out to the car and opened the pack. Burger with cheese and bacon and lettuce and sauce. So back in I go to try again. He is confused and says” ya pickles and ketchup only”.

(like I have not done this before) “look at the burger” I tell him. “Oh” He tells them in the back and another burger is made. I open it right there and I have a burger with cheese and bacon. I now want to bang my head on a wall. “ok, please can I have a bun with meat, pickles and ketchup? No cheese , no lettuce, no sauce and no bacon”. Finally they got the burger right but when I got back to the car I was charged $2.00 more for a wrong burger……… I drove off  and this is why I really don’t eat out.     LOL  (all true)

Look past Imperfection September 6, 2011

I took this picture this morning after our boot camp hike. A perfect morning picture with bug spatter and all !

I could have stepped out of the car and gotten a perfect picture, but if you look past the imperfections life always gives perfection.
